Odessa Weekend

Monday, April 28

It was a nice weekend but not so nice if you were a mustang wanting a good home. Only 2. Yes I said 2 horses were all that were adopted. One was reasigned. I hope that more people will be at the Spokane adoption in 2 1/2 weeks. There were some really nice horses there. I get so excited when I think about the first adoption that we stopped in at in Ellensburg. The were skinny, big headed little horses. Thru the excellent care the BLM gives to the herds, adoptions and so one the horses get better each year.

We brought home 2 yearlings from Beattys Butte to gentle and take to the Pasco adoption in June. I got both of them to smell my hand today. Tomorrow we will get down to work in earnest. I call them Nick and Nellie. When they are adopted they will get new names but I had to call them something.

I will get down to pictures when I have all this blog business figured out.

Hi Lea!

I check your blog almost every day for anything new. I'd love to see new pictures of Sierra, and hear how it went with the other two at Pasco.

Hi Lea! Wow...you aren't too far away from us are you. Thank you for your thoughts tonight. Yes it is tough everywhere and the horse industry is suffering dramatically! So many rescues are full, horses are bringing NO bids even at the auction yards, let alone able to be sold outside of there. We know a lot of trainers, farriers, breeders, and just horse owners, not to mention the ranchers..who are suffering. Seems as though the Ag end of our country suffers the hardest first and I do believe...that our country was built and thrived on the hard work and dedication it took of our fore fathers...the farmers and ranchers. Scares me to pieces where our food will be coming from in the years ahead!
Thank you again...
and Bless you!

Hi Lea - Thanks for stopping by my blog for a visit. I was just talking to my daughter today about horses. I've been a horse nut all my life (I'm 53) and I rode all the time when I was younger. I haven't ridden in about 20 years now, and we are thinking of getting a couple of gentle horses for our farm when we get moved out there. I was telling my daugher I needed to build a round pen so I can re-learn riding and get to feeling comfortable again. I'd hate to break something at 53. It was encouraging to me to see that at 71, you're still riding and healthy! You need to post some more about your horses and your life as a rescuer!

Hey Lea - thanks for your visit. Yes we see turkeys from time to time. They are pretty funny to watch. I prefer the deer. They are so beautiful whatever they do.

I'm anxious to see and hear more about your mustangs!
